Osteopathy in Iceland
The Icelandic Osteopathic Association (Osteópatafélag Íslands) was founded in 2002. Its main purpose is to promote and protect osteopathic interests in Iceland. Today there are only 4 qualified osteopaths in Iceland who are all registered with the Icelandic Osteopathic Association.
Despite of its small size the Icelandic Osteopathic Association has accomplished to get osteopathy recognised as a fully registered health profession with the Icelandic Ministry of Health. No one can work or call them selves osteopaths in Iceland except being registered as such with the Ministry of Health which seeks an opinion from the Icelandic Osteopathic Association before granting a registration.
The Icelandic osteopathic profession is a registered health profession according to regulation 1131/2012
